It will not be exaggeration to say that SRK and Gauri Khan's love story is similar to 'Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayege.' It sounds quite unbelievable but it's true.
Though the duo has completed 20 years of marriage, this too much in love couple has been together for last 27 years.

Gauri Chhibber was a Hindu of Punjabi mohyal brahaman origin, born in New Delhi. Eventually, the duo came together in 1984.
When Gauri's parents became aware about her affair with Shahrukh, they refused and reacted as most parents would do in those days.
Gauri's mother even threatened to commit suicide, but the King Khan did not lose hope. He tried his best to impress Gauri's uncles, aunts and cousins for nearly six years. Eventually the trick worked.
But all was not well. Apparently, hurt by SRK's too much possessive nature, Gauri left for Mumbai. Searching for his love-interest, even Shahrukh came to Mumbai.
What came as a surprise is that SRK had no knowledge of where Gauri could be, except the fact that she loved beaches.
Shahrukh searched almost all Mumbai beaches, but all in vain. Continuing the search, he finally, saw Gauri on a private beach standing in water.
Then what? A hug in a filmy style. When Gauri saw Shahrukh, she hugged him and started crying. That's when they realized the love they have for each other.
Finally, the duo got hitched and informed Gauri's parents who initially reacted strangely, but later excepted Gauri's choice.

The best part is that though they belong to different religion, they respect and follow both the religions. Presently, they reside in palace look-alike abode, Mannat.
