Dharmendra turns lyricist with 'Yamla Pagla Deewana' | Total Filmy

Here is good news for all Dharmendra fans, as this yesteryears Punjabi thespian, who is known for writing poems for long, recently penned down the lyrics for a song in his forthcoming film, 'Yamla Pagla Deewana'.
The film titled as 'Yamla Pagla Deewana' is inspired from the song 'Main Jat Yamla Pagla Deewana' in 'Pratiggya,' released in 1975, starring Dharmendra.

Dharmendra sung the song in America
This assiduous personality wrote a three minute song recorded by the talented songstress, Sukhwinder Singh.
Apparently, Dharm ji had sung this song in America long ago. And while shooting for 'Yamla Pagla Deewana', he thought of completing the song and using it in the film.
The lyrics of the song are “Kad ke bottle dabjo, Jat muh na lag jave, dafli baaje aapo aap, nasha sar nu chad jave.”
Confirming the news, Dharm ji told Mumbai Mirror, “Yes, it is true. This is a song that I had first sung on a show in America. After that, when we were working on Yamla Pagla Deewana, I thought about writing the entire song.”
“Everyone loved it and it has been recorded in Sukhvinder’s voice. We are yet to shoot the song and will decide later where to place it.”
“We are also toying with the idea of using it in parts throughout the narrative of the film,” Dharm ji added.
He is yet to hear the recorded song. Hope it's good.

'Yamla Pagla Deewana' in a nutshell
Directed by Samir Karnik, 'Yamla Pagla Deewana' features Sunny Deol, Bobby Deol, Anupam Kher and Kulraj Randhawa along with Dharmendra.
YPD revolves around a crooked father, Dharam Singh (Dharm ji) and his son Gajodhar Singh (Bobby Deol), who live in Varanasi, and a Canada based man Paramveer Singh Dhillon (Sunny Deol) who after two decades gets to know about his father and brother in Varanasi.
The film is slated to hit the theatres on Jan. 14, 2011.
Hope the movie is a success, as both Sunny and Bobby desperately need a hit to save their drowning career.
