I don’t make them (films) for Oscars—Aamir Khan | Total Filmy
Apprehensive about ‘Peepli Live’s’ ousted from the top nine shortlisted films in the Foreign Language Film category in the 83rd Academy Awards, the producer of the film, Aamir Khan commented that though he is upset with the ousted, he is happy that they represented India.
Believe it or not, ‘Peepli Live’ was the only film representing India, out of a list of 27 films, which even included ‘Raajneeti’ and ‘Udaan’.
As quoted by The Times Of India, Aamir said, “I came to know that 'Peepli Live' is out of Oscars. I am of course sad about it. But, I am happy that we represented India and we were one among the world's best 60 films which were sent to Oscars. We are disappointed and sad.”
I never made films for Oscars--Aamir
Palpably, Mr. Perfectionist had huge expectations with this low budgeted film, especially after his earlier films ‘Lagaan’ and ‘Taare Zameen Par’ missed the Oscars.

Clarifying his style of making films, he said that he never made films for Oscars or any other awards; rather he appreciates the opinion of audience, critics and media.
“I don't make them for Oscars, neither for any other awards. I make films for the audience.
“I value whatever response I get from the audience, critics and media. Oscars, Cannes, Berlin Festival - they are like platforms where international audience comes to know about our films. If you win there, more people watch them,” added Aamir.
Directed by debutant director Anusha Rizvi, ‘Peepli Live’ is an Indian comic satire showcasing farmer suicides and the role of media and political parties in it.
