Try Trekking For The ‘A’ Factor

Nervous, yet elated. Frightened, yet optimistic. The feelings before my first trek revolved in my head in the form of this plethora of adjectives. The moment to foray into a different ‘A’dventure had arrived as I eagerly waited to get rid of the monotony in my life. Instead of opting for a beach holiday or some spa session in the backwaters somewhere in the South, I asserted to spend time amidst the mountains, around the nature.

Living in tents. Walking around the dense forests. Huge pine trees. Crossing the valley streams on the wood logs and ancient handmade bridges. Relishing the instantly cooked hot food served in the company of unknown people. Making new friends over meals. Cold winds gushing peacefulness. Getting clicked around the bonfire sessions. A hot cup of coffee around the bushes and water under the dark sky. Interacting with the local crowd.

Say Yes To The Travel Instinct In You!

There is always a source that provokes us. Hidden and completely unknown. Thinking about nothing, I finished up watching Bollywood movie ‘Yeh Jawani Hai Deewani’ for the fifth time. And it made me upset. I wasn’t affected by the emotional turmoil between Naina and Kabir, but an uncontrollable set of traveling plans were popping in my head. Their trekking trip to Manali and the beautiful forts of Rajasthan at the end of the movie made me jealous.

Hues of life: Showcasing the simple moments of a labourer's life

The probability of the common man trying to comprehend the plight of a labourer or evaluating his daily errand for survival is definitely less. One rarely spares time. On the occasion of Labour Day, a photography exhibition at the Punjab Kala Bhawan, highlights rare moments of a labourer’s life which one, otherwise, fails to observe.

An initiative by Punjab Art Council in collaboration with Theatre for Theatre (TFT) Visual Art Academy, the exhibition contains photographs of artists from the city who pursue photography as their passion, but come from different professional backgrounds. These include Harvinder Singh, Sunil Sharma, Daljeet Singh, Lucky Kadiyan, Navjot Singh, Gurjeet Singh, Deepak Arora and Pardeep Saini.
